Black Stars Friendly Games in 2026: Ten Substitutions in Cardiff, a Cancelled Morocco Trip and the Price

Black Stars friendly games in 2026 ran from a 5-1 defeat in Vienna on 27 March to a 1-1 draw in Cardiff on 2 June, and the October trip to Morocco was called off.

Each match was priced days ahead on a squad list, and each team sheet rewrote the price. For a Ghanaian punter the lineup is the market.

Black Stars friendly games of 2026, match by match

Austria beat Ghana 5-1 at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna on Friday 27 March 2026, kick-off 17:00 GMT. Jordan Ayew scored the Ghana goal; four of Austria's came after half-time.

Three days later, on Monday 30 March, Germany won 2-1 at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart. Kai Havertz scored a penalty before the break, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku equalised in the 70th minute off the bench and Deniz Undav won it in the 88th.

Mexico beat Ghana 2-0 in Puebla on Friday 22 May, a match that kicked off at 02:00 Accra time. Brian Gutiérrez scored inside two minutes and Guillermo Martínez added the second in the 54th.

Wales and Ghana drew 1-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday 2 June. Caleb Yirenkyi scored in the 66th minute and Lewis Koumas equalised three minutes into stoppage time. It was Carlos Queiroz's first match as head coach.

The Morocco friendly pencilled for the October window never happened. The GFA said the decision followed consultations between both federations and promised new arrangements in due course.

Rotation in Puebla and Cardiff: what the team sheet did

Queiroz missed the Mexico game for personal reasons and assistant Desmond Offei took charge. Ghana lined up 4-4-2 with Benjamin Asare in goal and Jan Kwasi Gyamerah, Nathaniel Adjei, Oscar Oppong and Terry Yegbe across the back. Jordan Ayew, Alexander Djiku, Thomas Partey, Kwasi Sibo, Issahaku and Kamaldeen Sulemana were all absent.

In the 66th minute Prince Amoako, Jerry Afriyie and Razak Simpson came on together. Later Abdul Aziz Issah, Joseph Opoku, Salim Adams and Solomon Agbasi replaced Majeed Ashimeru, Ibrahim Osman, Emmanuel Agyei and the goalkeeper. Seven changes, one of them between the posts, in a 2-0 game.

Cardiff went further. Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Partey, Marvin Senaya, Issahaku and Prince Kwabena Adu came off in the first wave of changes; Yirenkyi, Abdul Mumin, Iñaki Williams, Christopher Bonsu Baah and Baba Rahman arrived in the second. Ten changes in all, and the scorer was a substitute.

How a lineup moves a friendly price

A pre-match price is built on the starting team the bookmaker expects. A friendly breaks that assumption twice: once when the squad is announced without the Europe-based regulars, and again when the sheet lands an hour before kick-off with a debutant goalkeeper.

Work it at illustrative prices. Ghana opens at 2.50 to win a friendly, so GH₵40 returns GH₵100. The sheet shows a reshuffled back four and the price drifts to 2.80; the same GH₵40 now returns GH₵112. A punter who waited for the sheet is paid GH₵12 more for the same opinion.

The goal markets react too. With seven or ten substitutions, the last half-hour is played by a different team from the first hour, and in Cardiff both goals came after the changes. Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score are priced with that in mind on a friendly.

The live betting post covers the in-play suspension that follows a mass substitution, and the void bet post explains what a cancelled fixture like the Morocco trip does to a slip.

Where a Ghanaian punter prices a friendly

On the Gaming Commission register, Melbet trades as Otrada Limited and 22Bet as Lantini Limited; Paripesa takes cedi sign-ups on an offshore licence with a GH₵8 floor. All of them price a Black Stars friendly on the 1X2, double chance and goals lines, funded by a MoMo prompt.

A friendly leg counts toward a welcome rollover like any other, provided the price is 1.40 or better on a three-leg slip at 22Bet or Paripesa. Nothing comes off the return since Act 1129 ended the 10% withholding on 2 April 2025.

Questions about Black Stars friendlies

What happened to the Morocco friendly in October 2026?

The Ghana Football Association announced that the Ghana against Morocco friendly set for the October window was called off after consultations between the two federations. Markets for the fixture closed with it, and a stake on a cancelled match is returned under the void rules.

When is the next Black Stars friendly?

The GFA has published no friendly after the Morocco cancellation. Its statement said new arrangements for the Black Stars would be announced in due course as part of the AFCON 2027 qualifying preparations. The November window is taken by the two Somalia qualifiers in Accra, so the next friendly date comes from the GFA when it is fixed.
